A most complex and fascinating being, Guinan is a member of a race known only as the El Aurians or the Race of the Listeners. Unfortunately, the Borg exterminated most of them late in the 23rd century. Guinan is among the few survivors who have scattered throughout the galaxy in a forced diaspora. Her age seems to be at least half a millennium. It is known that she was present on Earth in the year 1893 at the city of San Francisco. At present, she manages the Ten Forward Lounge on the Starship Enterprise. In spite of her non-commissioned status, she has played an important role because of her centuries of wisdom and unusual powers. Guinan is able to sense things beyond the linearity of the space-time continuum. Recently, the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D was approached by an unfathomable space-time continuum phenomenon known as the Nexus Ribbon. It is possible Guinan's premonitory memory will be extremely important in evaluating this space anomaly.
