Zak is ruled by his passions; he's young, aggressive and brash, with a hair-trigger temper…"Thinking is best left to dull philosophers who have nothing better to do anyway!" He believes that his childhood friend, Dargon, is too serious for his own good; that the pursuit of wine, women and song is best.

Once the commander of King Markor's Royal Guard, Zak was replaced (by Dargon) for his wisecracking insolence. Now he leads a highly-skilled group of men (and women)-at-arms in Markor's army. His weapon of choice is the Slazor — a gun discharging venom gas-filled pellets that explode on impact into poisonous clouds. The merest whiff of this gas infects its victims with bliss so glorious that it drives them insane; the victims slowly die witless.

Zak has been betrothed of the lovely Duchess Belana, to whom he is fiercely devoted, since birth. Yet she is (secretly) in love with Dargon, who (secretly) reciprocates her feelings.

Zak is assisted in battle by Bitaur, his telebonded insectoid. Bitaur fights like a demon possessed, but he is basically lazy…avoiding work and conflict whenever possible. Bitaur's ill temper serves Zak well, since Bitaur tends to take it out on his master's enemies.

Bitaur's razor-sharp teeth can cut through anything, while his armored jaws grasp with incredible power. Bitaur's impervious shell makes him almost invulnerable in battle situations.
