Amazing Red, a renowned wrestler in the independent circuit, made his mark in NWA Total Nonstop Action (NWA TNA) when he joined the promotion in 2002. He quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the X Division, capturing both the X Division Championship and the NWA World Tag Team Championship simultaneously alongside Jerry Lynn. Red's impressive skills were showcased in the X-Division Gauntlet match at Victory Road 2004, where he competed against a field of 20 wrestlers vying for the X Division Cup, ultimately won by Héctor Garza.

After a hiatus, Red returned to TNA in 2009, participating in the Team 3D Tag Team Invitational Tournament. He formed a partnership with Suicide and together they achieved notable victories, including a triumph over The Motor City Machine Guns. However, their tournament journey was cut short by The British Invasion, who eliminated them with the assistance of interference from Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin. Red's pursuit of championship gold continued as he challenged Suicide for the X Division Championship, but despite his valiant efforts, he fell short in his quest for a second title reign.

Red's time in TNA was marked by thrilling encounters, including a Steel Asylum match at Hard Justice and a ladder match where he emerged as the number one contender for Samoa Joe's X Division title. He eventually captured the X Division Championship for the second time by pinning Joe with an assist from Bobby Lashley. Red's reign saw him successfully defend the title against a range of competitors, including Homicide, Daniels, Suicide, Alex Shelley, and Chris Sabin, in an electrifying Ultimate X match at Bound for Glory. However, his championship reign came to an end when Doug Williams capitalized on his "Feast or Fired" briefcase opportunity to dethrone Red.

Throughout his tenure, Red also ventured into tag team competition, teaming up with Matt Morgan to defend the TNA World Tag Team Championship. Their partnership faced challenges, and tensions arose when Morgan attacked Red following a successful title defense. Red's journey in TNA had its ups and downs, but his impact on the X Division and his memorable matches left an indelible mark on the promotion.
