On the 9th of August 2003, Nigel McGuiness debuted in Ring of Honor (ROH). He began to appear frequently at ROH shows in 2004 and became a mainstay of the company in 2005. At the ROH Dragon Gate Invasion show in August of 2005 McGuiness won the ROH Pure title from Samoa Joe and went on to hold the belt for 350 days until losing a unification match with then ROH World Champion Brian Danielson.
McGuiness won the ROH world title for at Undeniable on 6 October 2007. During his 545 day run as champion, McGuiness defended the belt 38 times against numerous stars including Tyler Black, Kevin Steen, Austin Aries, El Generico, and Brian Danielson. After losing the title to Jerry Lynn, Mcguiness left ROH.
On 22 October 2009 episode of Impact!, he made his TNA debut under the name Desmonde Wolfe. Immediately thrown into a high profile angle with Kurt Angle, and aligned with Ric Flair and AJ Styles in their feud with Hulk Hogan, Wolfe gained traction with the fans. When TNA introduced a new "Championship Ranking" system, where fans were allowed to vote on the number one contender to the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, Wolfe was the first winner. Wolfe continue with TNA until January of 2011 when he left the company. After a year long hiatus from wrestling, he returned to independent wrestling under the name Nigel McGuiness and subsequently retired, wrestling his last match in December of 2011.
He has gone on to be a wrestling commentator, having worked for the WWE from 2016-2022.
