Greg "The Hammer" Valentine is a former professional wrestler who had a successful career in various wrestling promotions, including Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE), during the 1970s and 1980s. He competed under different ring names and had notable feuds and championship reigns throughout his career.

Valentine started his wrestling journey as Baby Face Nelson before adopting the name Johnny Fargo and teaming up with Don Fargo as the Fargo Brothers from 1971 to 1974. After their split, he wrestled in Florida as Johnny Valentine Jr., trying to live up to his father's legacy. Eventually, he changed his ring name to Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, distancing himself from being Johnny Valentine's son to avoid any perception of his father being too old to compete.

In 1976, Valentine joined Jim Crockett Jr.'s Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, replacing his father, who had retired due to a back injury. He immediately feuded with Johnny Weaver and retired him with a top rope elbow drop, which was promoted as a deadly move. Valentine formed a successful tag team with Ric Flair, winning the NWA World Tag Team Championship twice.

During his time in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, Valentine also feuded with Chief Wahoo McDaniel over the NWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship. Their rivalry culminated in a match where Valentine broke Wahoo's leg, leading Valentine to wear a T-shirt proudly proclaiming his achievement.

Valentine had a brief stint in the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF, now WWE) in 1978, where he wrestled top stars like Bob Backlund and Chief Jay Strongbow. He then returned to Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling in 1979 and had an on-and-off partnership with Ric Flair, with whom he won the NWA World Tag Team Championship again. However, their relationship turned sour, and Valentine attacked Flair, breaking his nose and splitting his lips.

In 1981, Valentine joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and had notable feuds with Bob Backlund and Pedro Morales over the WWF Heavyweight Championship and the WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship, respectively. He held the WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship for a brief period before losing it to Tito Santana.

Valentine returned to Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling in 1982 and engaged in a brutal feud with Roddy Piper, including memorable dog collar matches. Piper eventually defeated Valentine, ending his United States Championship reign.

In 1984, Valentine rejoined the WWF and won the Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship from Tito Santana, focusing on Santana's injured knee. He had feuds with the Junkyard Dog and Santana, eventually losing the title back to Santana in a steel cage match. Greg Valentine formed a tag team called The Dream Team with Brutus Beefcake, managed by Luscious Johnny V. They won the WWF Tag Team Championship in 1985 by defeating The U.S. Express. They held the titles until WrestleMania 2 when they were beaten by The British Bulldogs. At WrestleMania III, they defeated The Rougeau Brothers with the help of Johnny V and Dino Bravo. However, Valentine abandoned Beefcake during the match, turning Brutus face. Valentine formed The New Dream Team with Dino Bravo but was unhappy with the partnership. He briefly left the WWF after being asked to participate in a "kidnap" storyline involving The British Bulldogs' mascot. He returned with Jimmy Hart as his manager but had a diminished role until 1990.

Valentine feuded with Don Muraco, attacking his manager Superstar Billy Graham. The feud was cut short when Muraco was released by the WWF. Valentine then feuded with Ron Garvin, culminating in a submission match at the 1990 Royal Rumble, which Garvin won. Valentine formed a tag team called Rhythm and Blues with The Honky Tonk Man. They were managed by Jimmy Hart and feuded with teams like The Bushwhackers and The Hart Foundation. Valentine eventually turned face after accidentally being attacked by Hart, but he left the WWF before the planned feud could take place. Valentine had a brief babyface run in the WWF, participating in the Royal Rumble matches of 1991 and 1992. He faced Earthquake at WrestleMania VII and Irwin R. Schyster at SummerSlam 1991, but he left the company in early 1992 after losing to the Repo Man in the Royal Rumble match.

Valentine joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1992. He won the WCW United States Tag Team Championship with Terry Taylor but lost it to The Freebirds. Valentine had various feuds and tag team matches in WCW before resigning from the promotion in late 1992.

Throughout his career, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine established himself as a rugged and tough competitor known for his hard-hitting style. He achieved success as a tag team wrestler and had significant feuds for singles titles. Valentine's career spanned several decades, and he left a lasting impact on the wrestling industry.
