The story of Striker's suspension garnered significant attention from major news outlets, including The New York Times. This newfound publicity caught the eye of WWE, who saw an opportunity and offered Striker a contract. After making a few smaller appearances, Striker made his debut on the December 12th, 2005 episode of Raw, portraying a villainous teacher character in a segment called 'Matt Striker's Classroom.' His primary feud at the time was against Eugene.

In August of 2006, Striker made the move to ECW, where he initiated a rivalry with the Sandman. Then, in early 2007, Striker joined forces with Kevin Thorn, Elijah Burke, and Marcus Cor Von, forming a faction known as the New Breed. As a member of the New Breed, Striker continued to clash with the Sandman and other ECW originals, including RVD, Balls Mahoney, Tommy Dreamer, and Sabu. However, at Wrestlemania 23, the ECW originals emerged victorious over the New Breed. Subsequently, the New Breed attempted to recruit CM Punk, but their plan backfired, resulting in Punk, Sandman, and Dreamer defeating Striker, Burke, and Cor Von in a match at One Night Stand 2007. Following this defeat, the New Breed gradually disbanded, and Striker shifted his focus to managing Big Daddy V.

While still involved in wrestling alongside Big Daddy V, Striker gradually transitioned away from in-ring competition. In 2008, he found a new role as a commentator and interviewer.
