Pat Dugan became Stripesy, the unusual adult sidekick of teenage superhero Star-Spangled Kid, to inspire people during World War 2. In present day, Pat's stepdaughter Courney Withmore became the new Star-Spangled Kid (later Stargirl) to annoy him, and Pat developed a suit of armor to protect her as STRIPE.
