After wrestling for the Japanese promotion Stardom as Thunder Rosa, Melissa began appearing on Lucha Underground under the guise of Kobra Moon. Depicted as the leader of the Reptile tribe, she engaged in a feud with Drago that eventually lead to him becoming her slave and bringing the trios championship to the Reptile tribe. The Reptile tribe held the titles for several months before losing them to the Mack, Son of Havoc, and Killshot. After this, Drago returned to his friends Aerostar and Fenix but Kobra Moon led the tribe to a second championship win and the reign lasted until the end of the company.

Melissa continued to wrestle with other promotions during her time with Lucha Underground, notably ROH and WOW. In 2019 she began wrestling for the NWA and won their Women's championship at the ppv event Hard Times (2020). After 9 months, she lost the belt to Seeren Deeb.

Thunder Rosa debuted in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) on August 22, 2020, challenging Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women's World Championship. Although she failed to win the title, she later successfully defended her NWA World Women's Championship and formed a face alliance with Shida. Rosa and Shida teamed up for victories in tag team matches, and Rosa gained critical acclaim for her main event Unsanctioned Lights Out match against Britt Baker on March 17, 2021.

In July 2021, Rosa signed a full-time deal with AEW and participated in the AEW TBS women's championship tournament. She defeated Jamie Hayter but was eliminated from the tournament by Jade Cargill due to interference from Mercedes Martinez. Rosa eventually won the AEW Women's World Championship on March 16, 2022, in a Steel Cage match against Baker. She successfully defended the title against various challengers but later relinquished it due to injury. Rosa's reign was retroactively rescinded, and Toni Storm and Jamie Hayter's interim title reigns were recognized as fully lineal runs with the Women's World Championship.
