Cloned from the Father of Justice Chief Judge FARGO. Joe Dredd and his Clone twin Rico, had been the first clones.
Trained for 12 years at the Academy of Law in Mega City One. They had their taste of Street Justice during the ATOMIC war as Cadets. Their job to initially help with law and order as President Booth brought the world and the US into Madness with the Atomic War.
Then later to protect Chief Judge Fargo who was severely injured.

Once Joe and Rico passed their ROOKIE DAY and became full Judges, they quickly became known for their efficiency at Justice.
Alas Rico also saw the benefits of Crime and Joe had to bring him down. Initially Rico was sentenced to 20 years on TITAN (all Bad Judges went there). Rico later escaped and Dredd had to kill his Clone Brother.

Dredd has since became the living embodiment of JUSTICE in Mega City One. He saved Mega City Two by travelling through the cursed Earth with a vaccine for a Virus that was crippling MC2. Upon return to Mega City One, Judge Caligula assassinated and became Chief Judge Caligula bringing forth a duration of Crazed Terror for Judges and citizens alike. Also tried to have DREDD shipped off to TITAN on trump up charges, then tried to have him killed.
The Judges had been mind controlled via their daily briefs, so DREDD had the assistance of Tutor Judges, Wounded Judges in taken on Chief Judge Cal and the mind controlled Judges, until they had deprogrammed the Judges and thus brought an end to the Madness.

Dredd was the leading person when EAST MEG ONE launched a Chemical attack in the form of BLOCK Mania (stretching Justice Depth thin everywhere) and then launched a Nuclear attack upon Mega City One. Followed by Ground Invasion.
Eventually Dredd and remnants won by a Destroying East Meg One off the map.

Dredd has been to the future (upon a predication) and battled his undead/animated self.
Dredd's notable criminals: Robot Wars, Judge Child/MUTANT, Cursed Earth Mutants, Trapper Hag, CHOPPER, JUDDA, Numerous corrupt Judges, The Four Dark Judges, The Angel Gang and moreso Mean Machine Angel in numerous bouts. Democracy, Stan Lee aka DEATHFIST, Mechizmo, FRIENDZ criminal organisation who actually managed to Take over MC1 for a short Duration by use of Robots before Judges retaking MC1.

Dredd took the long walk (when he resigned) and has been the Only Judge to be allowed to take his Lawmaster with him. Dark Sisters who badly disfigured Dredd whilst he was out in the Cursed Earth on his Long Walk. Forcing Dredd to return to MC1 as the Dark Judges who had turned MC1 into NECROPOLIS. Defeating the Dark Judges once again.
Dredd was reinstated and treated for his injuries.

The Alien Warlock Sabbat who tried to kill the World by re animating the DEAD. Dredd and the Best Judges of the globe & (from the Future) Strontium Dog, JOHNNY ALPHA united to defeat Sabbat. Many MEGA CITIES lost due to this.
