In the Civil War, Jesse and his brother Frank rode with the Confederate guerilla group "Quantrill's Raiders". After the war, the James boy's were involved in at least 23 bank, train and stage-coach robberies. Over twenty innocent people were killed or wounded as a result. On April 3, 1882, Robert Ford shot Jesse James in the back of the head and collected a$10,000 reward.
