Description:

Henry McCarty-Antrium, alias Bill Bonney was born in New York. He moved to Kansas in 1870. An orphan by age 15, he fell under the influence of thieves. Arrested for stealing, he escaped by climbing up a chimney. Arrest for a killing, he disappeared with the chains used to bind him.

He was slight and slim, with a boyish face. This is the reason he was called "The Kid". He had a quick temper.

He teamed up with horse and cattle thieves in New Mexico. "The Kid" left these outlaws to work as a hired gun on a ranch. He participated in the New Mexico ranch wars in 1878-79. In 1881, he encountered a stake-out by Sheriff Pat Garrettt, who had been tracking "The Kid" for weeks. He was shot dead as he entered the room.
