Pippin in Armor (Removable Helmet & Sword)
Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Return of the King - Series 1
Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor
A decent looking and well articulated figure but the action feature lets it down. A big ugly button on the back that protrudes out of the back of his Elven cloak to make him slash is a terrible look and feature. The sword might be a bit small it’s hard to tell but in the film it looks longer and obviously sharper but it fits in his sheath nicely. The headsculpt is fine perhaps a bit too young looking, but holds his helmet well when he’s not chucking it on the ground as the Nazgul shriek. Overall worth adding to your collection....[See More]
Gandalf the White
Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Series 2
Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor
It’s better articulation wise than the two towers version but is essentially the same figure. With the two towers figure pressing the button on his back would raise the staff or sword in his right hand but that meant sacrificing articulation in the arm. With this one they keep that action feature but the articulation is improved on the arm allowing it to bend. Again like with the pelenor fields aragorn is prefer a serious face with a stern look or passive rather than this shouting one. The staff and glamdring are fine but the sheath is grey and should be white, not sure why they can’t ever get this right. The cloth robe poncho is a nice touch making it less cumbersome than the plastic cloak. Overall it’s a pretty good figure but the riding Gandalf is still the best version....[See More]
Aragorn (Super Poseable Pelennor Fields)
Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Series 2
Rated 3.50 stars by Deaditor
I have mixed feelings about this figure even when I was younger I felt that the head is so wrong. That shouting head is appropriate I suppose but a passive head is always better on our heroes. The cloak is anoying being held on by two pegs and weighing the figure down, but the detail is there. He’s well articulated and looks decent I just think the head ruins it a little and cloth robes would be better like the rider version. One last note is that the robes are painted dark blue but on screen it’s clearly black. This is an issue that’s always continuing as they do it on the Lego version as well. I believe in a certain light it might appear bluish but it’s wupposed to be black so unfortunately he’s the wrong colour. It’s an above average figure but needs work to get right....[See More]
Eomer (Ceromonial Armor)
Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Series 1
Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor
This Eomer is much better than the previous one. The likeness actually looks like Karl Urban and the details are a bit better as well as the scale. It’s a shame that a new figure wasn’t released of him in his traditional armour because obviously he doesn’t wear this ceremonial version to war. Again he has that swivel attack where you turn his body to one side and he slashed back. This means the arm articulation isn’t affected but the torso is bound to be in one position if posed. Other than that he’s well articulated and comes with his sword and it’s a decent figure....[See More]
Super Poseable Gollum (with Climbing Action)
Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Series 2
Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor
It’s good and worth getting, it just needs something else specifically an interchangeable head. This smeagol figure is super articulated and therefore a bit flimsy and the loincloth from the rubber Gollum’s looks better, which sounds odd but you want skin to look different from clothing for more realism. It’s a shame this figures head was a smeagol expression innocent and goofy looking and not a Gollum snarling face or better yet as I said why not include an interchangeable head. Perhaps it was early days and by 2003 interchangeable heads on smaller figures were unheard of or just done as masks or rarely but this figure needed it for the duality. Moving onto the baseplate/wall: it’s a nice background I just wish they made the back metal instead of making Gollum climb using the ugly...[See More]
Ringwraith
Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring (Toy Biz) - Series 4
Rated 4.50 stars by Deaditor
As said in my revie if this figure on horseback I’ve never had an issue with this figure it looks good, is well articulated but slightly lacking due to the button stab action and the rubber legs are fine here as allow the detail and you want these on horseback with cloth robes. I’d suggest aiming to get ringwraiths with horses not just single carded figures but if not this is still worth it....[See More]
Gandalf the Grey (Light Up Staff)
Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring (Toy Biz) - Series 2
Rated 2.00 stars by Deaditor
This first Gandalf figure lacks quite a bit but it does have a few passable qualities. I think the staff and detailing like the bag and the robes themselves are done very well. The headsculpt is terrible there’s no denying that and due to the light up feature it lacks articulation but as much as other light up figures seem to. I’m sure many would argue that this figure is the worst Gandalf but for me it’s still the hobbit one. Coincidentally the likeness of this Gandalf is more reminiscent of dumbledore than Gandalf. I’ve not been able to get one of these figures to properly light up byt from what I’ve seen there’s a head variant where the detail is better more like the super poseable Gandalf and two light up colour variants of the crystal in the staff when activated one being green the...[See More]
Uruk-Hai Warrior vs Gimli
Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring (Toy Biz) - Multi-Packs
Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor
What you get is the same as a cirith ungol Uruk but with white hand prints and no Mordor logo. The phots are deceptive again as this figure doesn’t come with a helmet as advertised as those are exclusive to Burger King uruks unfortunately and randomly. The figure itself either had a button that raises one arm and then the other alternating or has a place for ones thumb to swivel on its back for the same effect. His sword and shield are both held well and overall the only issue with this Uruk is somewhat lacking arm articulation all scout Uruk-hai figures seem to have. Gimli is of course just the standard Gimli he’s always been with removable helmet and a massive cloak painted blue brown for some reason with throwing axes walking axe and double headed axe included which he can throw by...[See More]
Radagast
Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug (Bridge Direct) - 6" Scale
Rated 4.90 stars by Deaditor
Radagast is probably the best of the Hobbit Figures. I have very little issues with this figure. His detailing is good looking like Slyvester McCoy, paintjob is fine and the staff is so much better looking than Gandalfs as it’s got some paint apps and shading to it. Also surprisingly he’s a really good height being shorter than Gandalf but taller than the Dwarves and I’m talking about the Toybiz Gandalf he’s in good scale with if you compare to the films. My only issues are some some areas I think the paint jobs could have been done better specifically the cartoon painted on feather which could have just been a textured piece and the bird umm poop or lack there of. I like the idea of him becoming so in touch with nature and having a birds nest on his head that he neglects to care about...[See More]
Yazneg
Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey (Bridge Direct) - 6" Scale
Rated 3.00 stars by Deaditor
The sculpt is fine, but it inhibits some of the leg movement and the overall paintjob leaves much to be desired. Yazneg just looks like an old man not an orc and needs a repaint. He comes with an axe which is really cool looking but he carries a spear on the film so it seems odd he has this. It’s funny to think hazneg was the origicn design for Azog and how different Azog’s become and for the better. Overall it’s nothing special and since he’s only in half of be first film it seems like Fumbul the Hunter was a better choice to make....[See More]
