GeekSummitAres.... going in alphabetical order probably the finest figure in the series though obscure to my DC repertoire. The pitted chased armor and the super detailed armor on the arms and legs makes this the top dog in Wave 4. As much work that went into this incarnation, it would be pretty hard to screw up. I say Kudos to Mattel and the 4 horsemen on the detail and concentration that obviously went into this figure.. hold on to your hats though, its gonna get ugly once I start getting into the rest of what I have found so far with Wave 4.... whew-E its gonna be a roaster....[

Henchmen4Hiredarn, seems like fan-opinions are split right down the middle on this figure. Too short! Just right! Body looks too old! Face looks too young! Gah! I liked the size, I'm used to the little kid I saw in the old Batman cartoons, and he looks like 16 or 17 when displayed on it's own. But then I stood Robin next to my DC Direct Supergirl (white/blue costume from the Superman line), the figure by which I measure all other figures' quality :P and he really does look very small. I mean, Supergirl is like 18 or 21, and she's pretty much towering over Robin, making him look like 12. Meh. It doesn't bug me enough to make a custom with his parts, I'll just have to do some strategic posing and displays...
Robin is a spunky 5.35 inches, up to you whether that's good or bad. This is the...[

Solomon GrundyDC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 3

Henchmen4HireI'm surprised how well Grundy translated into a more realistic-looking figure. The proportions of the body are a little grotesque and they work perfectly, blending the cartoony with the real. More importantly, it doesn't just look like a Hulk figure in a suit, it is an original model, this figure stands alone.
Grundy is laughably huge. Almost 9.5 inches, what in all the hells has he been eating that made him so gigantic!? Many thanks to the 4 Horsemen for delivering epic figures like this but 10 inches!? I've never seen Grundy this big! He's only supposed to be like 8 feet tall, this is just crazy. He is noticeably out of scale like the SDCC Lobo figure, I'll never understand why the head cheeses make these kind of decisions. Of course, he really may be that huge in the comics, I liked...[

Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)DC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 3

Henchmen4HireHal is pretty much what we were all expecting, it's such a simple character-design that there's no way to mess it up.
Hal stands about 6.25 inches tall, no complaints there since almost all the male-figures of this line are the same size. Of course, I could complain that they
are all the same size and should vary...but no, I'm not feeling that pricky tonight :] I think the jaw is a little too wide, but not enough to make me rage uncontrollably, this figure is a welcome addition to any DC collection. This looks like the Hal I saw in the 90's, I wish they had a "disheveled variant" with the messy hair and stubble, that'd be the bee's knees for sure. Wonder what suit they'll give Jon Stewart if they make him? Please not that ugly old suit from Mosaic! It looks like the body is made...[

Sinestro (Blue / Black Suit)DC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 3

Henchmen4HireSinestro!... lame. And now to elaborate.
Sins stands 6-inches tall. Yes, he's 6-inches, not 5, but 6-inches. So why are so many people complaining? What I think happened here is that the 4 Horsemen didn't know how to handle Sinestro's large forehead. It looks like they were supposed to make a normal slim body with a large forehead, but instead they shortened the body because of his large forehead. No guys, that's wrong, his body isn't supposed to change height, all you had to do was make a figure with a large head, that's it, no other alterations necessary, and everyone goes home happy. This figure does a good job of balancing thin and muscular, but he's too small. It's unacceptable. You'll hear that word a lot more in the rest of my reviews of this series's figures.
Anyway, assuming...[

Sinestro's MightWow is all I can say about this one.The horsemen really outdid themselves on this one.Awesome sculpting job. the paint apps are flawless. It stands up perfectly in a multitude of poses.Great detail along the torso and bandoleir.
Paid $15 for it, would've paid $50.On par with the old DC Direct version.
The sword is a little different than the one I'm used to.(kind of like a Roman Gladius, gives me great ideas for future customs)and fits snuggly in the sheath.I kinda wish they went with a style more like in Identity Crisis but what're ya gonna do?The staff fits right on his back by means of two tabs on the bandoleir.
Now for the mask.Great job on the color scheme and I love the addition of the extended straps on the back.
Only one problem with it, the machine Slade carries on his back is...[

OrionDC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 1

Henchmen4HireOrion stands about 6.5 inches to the top of his helmet, which is fine with me! These new DCUC figures feel much sturdier than the old DCSH figs, maybe it's the legs that actually close all the way that give that impression, whatever, they feel nice in hand. The golden harness is flimsy but amazingly detailed and adds depth to an otherwise bland and pretty straight-forward figure. I didn't believe Buzzy Fret when he said the blue parts were actually purple, but they are! They look purple with sky-blue mixed-in, which looks like an odd combination of colors on the mainly red body, but it works I guess, heaven forbid I should argue with Jack Kirby's designs or I'd be STRICKEN AND CAN'T LET YOU GO! WHEN THE HEART IS COLD, THERE'S NO HOPE, AND WE KNOW- oops, listening to too much of...[

Buzzy_FretDCUC Lobo - Mattel's SDCC 2008 Exclusive
Wow, Mattel really did the Main Man up big time for SDCC! The 4 Horsemen really went over the top on the sculpt for Lobo and Mattel put it all together in a great package that screams “Super Collectable!”
First off Lobo is huge in comparison to the DCUC line. I know this is going to be a big crit for scale nuts (and I say that with utmost respect) as Lobo stands at almost 8.25 inches. His character stats on the package say he’s supposed to be 6’4”. I can only guess that Mattel decided to make him out of proportion with his DCUC counterparts because he was an extra special figure. As reported by Mattel’s own Toy Guru; Lobo was one of the characters that wasn’t going to be made for the retail DCUC line as he isn’t “kid friendly” unlike DC...[

Aquaman, King of Atlantis (Short Hair)DC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 2

ChancellorWOOT, WOOT,WOOOT!!! I finally got my first DCUC figure! And and Aquaman at that? Psht, I got it made!!! So, mister Arthur Curry is the son of Tom Curry, a light house keeper. He and a beached mer-maid, Atlanna, conceived Orin, (Arthur's Atlantian name). Later in Arthur's life, still unknowing of his mother's home and race, Atlanna died of natural causes. Yes, I know my version contradicts the origin on the back of Aquaman's packaging, but this is how I know it.
This figure is great. It's everything I could hope for from a figure except for a few things. What first struck me was the articulation. Obviously, I'd seen pictures of these odd leg POA, but I'd never seen them first hand. They work very well, and look a billion times more natural and realistic than common ML leg joints. That...[

FirestormDC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 2

Henchmen4HireI like running-changes, so much less of hassle than having to hunt down a rare variant of a figure. Technically it’s a completely different guy with the same suit, but I’m glad Mattel decided not to screw with us and let us have both Firestorms fairly.
This is the Raymond version which came out first, Jason comes-out soon, if not already by the time of this review. This figure is about 6.25 inches tall, the flames add more height. He’s got a “take on the world” kind of smirk on his face. There is lots of sculpted detail, even the thing on his chest is intricately sculpted, it’s only not visible on the yellow forearms, the yellow overpowers any detail. There are parts that are and aren’t painted, and though it did reduce the chance of paint-rub tremendously, it left the color-scheme a...[
