Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring (Toy Biz)I really like this figure and it only has a few issues that some might see as major or minor depending on their preferences. So what we get is a very nicely detailed cave troll with a perfect likeness great size complete with his chain, hammer the spear and a softgoods loincloth (if you’re into that sort of thing) so this figure has everything you’d want. The only issues people might have is it has two ugly levers at the back which are used for the play feature. This troll makes growling and shouting sound effects, though mind never worked, when you pull either lever which also makes the right arm lift his hammer to smash or pull back his left arm and then stab to recreate Frodo’s fake out death scene. His face is made of rubber so that when you use the action feature the plastic jaw underneath opens and stretches the face to give the impression of him shouting. This presents a problem as many of these figures have decayed over the years so finding a decent condition one isn’t always possible. If you do get one, under one of his feet is a screw where the batteries are so carefully remove that to get rid of any old batteries and dispose of in a plastic bag and wash your hand thoroughly, helps if you don’t touch them and use the bag to drop them into or like a glove, just be careful! The figures accessories look the part though considering Aragorn stabs the troll with the spear before he returns the favour to Frodo means this spears handle is quite large so probably wouldn’t work well in Aragorn’s hands the spears are usually warped so heat with water or a hair dryer to get the spear straight. The hammers handle is softer rubbery piece and the pieces do come apart to allow you to take it out his hands but it is a good idea. Overall I really enjoy this as part of my collection, worth getting as the detail is great and despite limited movement it does fit in well and stand.   by Deaditor |
