Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz)If I was just reviewing the Mouth of Sauron I’d easily give him a 5, but the accompanying figures leave something to be desired. I got this set in my youth and loved playing with the figures but even as a kid Aragorn bugged me as his shouting face is just not something I would have chosen, the articulation is fine but the heavy vinyl robes inhibit it a bit and the cloak falls off constantly. I believe the Gandalf in this set is unique to gift packs as he has the more wild hair and gritting teeth showing he’s in the middle of combat, but he utilises then same body as the two towers version though some versions have improved arm articulation but still have the action feature. The details are nice and the cloth poncho is a nice touch. As for Legolas and Gimli you get a standard Gimli but for some reason a fellowship of the ring Legolas. This wasn’t something I’d notice in my youth but nowadays I can see clearly his Mirkwood Bow, quiver, arrows and lack of the cape make him stand out like a sore thumb and therefore he’s the worst figure in the set just repackaged. Moving onto the main piece of this set: The Mouth of Sauron and his steed. Toybiz knocked this figure out if the park. The articulation with solid (not rubbery) legs is good and he has his sword and the horse looks perfect with all the armoured details etc. I imagine this figure was designed closer to the time they moved onto the epic trilogy collection, but to be fair with the return of the king figures the vast majority of them stopped being so gimmicky and I’d they were it didn’t inhibit the articulation and they tend to be better quality all round. Overall this gift pack is so worth getting if you’re a fan of the Mouth of Sauron, but it’s let down by the other figures in the set.   by Deaditor |
