Azog Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey (Bridge Direct)Wow what a figure. It disappoints me that I’ve never seen a six inch scale Azog in basic packaging but if you do I’d still advise getting this one. Azog is huge appropriately so, in scale with Gothmog and other larger orcs and comes with a bunch of great accessories. Azog has his Mace, a sword which was used to decapitate Thror and possibly to cut the last of the seven rings off of Thrain, an interchangeable arm where you can have two normal arms or the left one with his riding/ claw prosthesis metal arm and last but certainly not least a spare interchangeable right hand holding the severed head of King Thror with gruesome detail. I think this is a must have for all. He looks well detailed though I feel the face is a bit off and his eyes are red instead of blue, with the facial scares being a bit off also I think this might be based off earlier concept art. Also he doesn’t have great range with posing his legs as his kilt made of flayed dwarf faces which is detailed on nicely inhibits his leg movement which makes it hard for him to be put on a Warg. Other than this it’s practically perfect. I picked up a couple as I wanted a basic one and another to make into the armoured version, but also for a spare crown as you can if you’re careful take the crown off the Thror head and have a crown to give to your Thorin. I think he articulation on the hobbit figures is somewhat disappointing for some notibly Azog and Thorin who you would want a bit more motion being athletic fighters but it’s just about good enough though a swivel at the upper arm maybe double jointed limbs would have been nice especially for Azog’s legs which are overaculoted onto the joint at the knee making it hard to bend so one would need to chop some of that off if they wanted a better pose. Overall though I can’t recomend this figure enough. Like all Bridge Direct: The Hobbit figures it has its problems though less than others (of course Toybiz wasn’t perfect either), but it’s still one of the best ones and while it’s a shame Toybiz couldn’t continue on to make a successor series what we got is a good foundation to build on. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
